PM Departs to Laos to Attend 4th Mekong River Commission Summit

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen left Phnom Penh International Airport for Vientiane, Laos on Tuesday morning, 4 April 2023, to attend the 4th Mekong River Commission Summit.

The Royal Government of Cambodia's special plane left Phnom Penh International Airport at around 8:45 am.

The 4th Mekong River Commission Summit will be held under the theme "Innovation and Cooperation for a Water Secure and Sustainable Mekong".

The senior officials set to accompany the Prime Minister to Laos next week include the Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology and Chairman of the Cambodian National Mekong River Commission, Lim Kean Hor, as well as the Minister of Environment, Say Samal.

The Summit will review the key progress and achievements made by the Mekong River Commission through the promotion of joint efforts and partnerships towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the Mekong Basin.

The 4th Mekong River Commission Summit will include discussions on the current challenges in the Mekong Basin and setting the future strategic direction to jointly address these challenges, in order to further promote regional cooperation and partnerships for Mekong sustainability.
